Assignment Descriptions:
Symbolic Name Designs: Using tag board, pencils, rulers, ultra-fine tip sharpies, and assorted colored pencils, students will create a Symbolic Name Design by incorporating creative lettering and symbols that describe themselves. Student will understand how descriptive symbols are utilized to communicate meaning in art. (State Standards: 25.A.3d; 25.A.3e; 25.B.3; 26.A.3e; 26.B.3d; 27.A.3b; 27.B.3)
Creative Color Wheel Collage: Using drawing paper, scissors, primary colored paints, and paint brushes, students will create a Creative Color Wheel Collage by mixing pigments together to design and assemble a painted paper collage in the manner of artists A. Calder, W. Kandinsky, and P. Mondrian. (State Standards: 25.A.3d; 25.A.3e; 25.B.3; 26.A.3e; 26.B.3d; 27.A.3b; 27.B.3)
Across the World Collage: Using tag board, pencils, ultra-fine tip sharpies, assorted colored pencils, assorted colored oil pastels, computers, and other mixed media, students will create an Across the World Collage using an enlarging technique. Students will research various locations from outside of the United States using the internet and library, collecting images and information (based on assignment requirements) which are representational of their specific location. (State Standards: 25.A.3d; 25.A.3e; 25.B.3; 26.A.3e; 26.B.3d; 27.A.3b; 27.B.3)
